Siemens opens wind turbine blade plant in Morocco

Siemens Gamesa has recent inaugurated their first wind turbine blade plant in Tangier Morocco, which is ideally situated between Europe and Africa. The 37,500 square meter plant will provide 600 jobs with an additional 500 auxiliary jobs and has already started production of blades since April of this year. Microsoft signs agreement with GE for more wind energy

Microsoft has signed an agreement with GE to add 37MW of wind energy in Ireland to support the growing demand of its services in the country. The 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) has Microsoft purchasing 100% of the energy produced from the Tullahennel wind farm in County Kerry, Ireland. According to the press release, the wind energy project will ‘integrate GE’s Digital Wind Farm technology, which makes renewable energy outputs even more reliable. Digital models, built on the Predix platform, ensure energy generation supplied can meet demand forecasted and reduce intermittency concerns.’ General manager, Datacenter Strategy at Microsoft, Christian Belady said, “Microsoft is proud to be deepening our long history of investment and partnership in Ireland with this agreement. Our commitment will help bring new, clean energy to the Irish grid, and contains innovative elements that have the potential to grow the capacity, reliability and capability of the grid. Senvion to supply wind farm in Argentina

Senvion has recently been awarded a 97MW wind farm project with EREN Renewable Energy (EREN RE) located in Argentina. The Los Hercules wind farm will be located in the Deseado department in the southern province of Santa Cruz and will produce enough power for 64,000 households annually. The company helped to establish their presence in South America by opening regional offices in Santiago de Chile and Buenos Aires. CEO of Senvion, Jürgen Geissinger said, “Senvion is expanding successfully – both in terms of technology as well as in terms of geography.
